This sweet girl was referred to our Medicine department from our friends at Roleystone Animal Hospital.

Roobi was experiencing unexplained nosebleeds and upon completion of blood tests, it was found that the platelet levels in her blood were extremely low.

Roobi was subsequently diagnosed with immune mediated thrombocytopenia.
Immune mediated thrombocytopenia is a blood disorder where the immune system attacks platelets, resulting in a decrease in the number of platelets circulating in blood. Platelets are the cells within the blood that help stop bleeding. Without an adequate platelet number a life threatening bleed can occur.

With ongoing medication and monitoring blood tests we are happy to report that Roobi’s platelet count is now at a safe level.

With the wonderful love and care from her family, we are pleased to say that Roobi is doing well and her platelet level remains stable.
